History:
AMFY was founded in 1995 by a group of Calgary business professionals and educators who were concerned about the high number of youth that were not obtaining their high school diplomas. From 14 relationships established in 1995 in three Calgary Board of Education Schools, AMFY had grown to support more than 280 relationships in the 2006-2007 school year in 68 schools in Calgary, Airdrie and Cochrane.

On April 18, 2008, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area and Alberta Mentor Foundation for Youth (AMFY) signed an agreement to merge AMFY's youth mentoring program with BBBS. This program merge strengthens the in-school mentoring programs in Calgary.
