Our Programs at a Glance

The volunteer mentors in our programs are responsible, caring adults who have an interest in making a positive difference in the life of a young person. All volunteers are carefully screened to ensure they are dependable, trustworthy and positive role models.

Mentors can choose to become a Big Brother or Big Sister, or volunteer as a couple in the Couples for Kids program, a Big Sister in the Glo Girls mentoring program can share her positive outlook with a young girl, and a sporty volunteer can share his or her interests for sports and recreation with a young person in the Recreation Mentoring program. Our school-based programs offer the opportunity for volunteers to spend time in school with a young person for one-hour a week in either the Between Generations Mentoring program, In-school Mentoring program, mPower Youth Mentoring program and the Teen Mentoring program.

Community-Based Mentoring Programs

School-Based Programs
The following mentoring programs are available in collaboration with elementary, junior and senior high schools and community organizations:

Cross-Gender Matching

Some of our most successful mentoring matches have resulted from matching female volunteers with male children in cross-gender pairings. Studies have shown that the quality of the mentoring match in cross-gender pairings builds mutually rewarding relationships in both community-based and school-based programs.
